Twitter for Researchers @ Imperial College 23/07/2012

At today’s Twitter for Researchers workshop, Martin Eve, a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Sussex, explained the benefits of using Twitter for a researchers. Martin stated that Twitter is a useful tool for building your researcher profile, connecting with academics in your research field, and for asking questions about your research subject. He also debunked some of the common misconceptions about Twitter, i.e. that it it can cause you to waste time, and that it is full of trivial information. Martin then went on to explain how to set up a Twitter account, and how to use the tweet, follow and connect functions, as well as going through direct messaging and the use of hashtags.
